Movement Is The Natural Progression Of Sculpture
We activate the gym, the gallery and urban spaces with sculpture created from rockclimbing.
I love climbing.
I love art.
I have been climbing since 2000, primarily in the Grampians and Arapiles, and working in the rope access industry since 1999 (IRATA 8050). Spending years suspended off structures and observing the city sparked my fascination with landscape architecture, which eventually led me to study the field.
In 2011, I completed a Masters at RMIT focused on bouldering and urban space, exploring alternative uses of public art funding to create more connective and healthy public outcomes. I am now a registered landscape architect.
Between 2016 and 2022, I worked mainly for a creative studio in NYC, living between New York, Berlin, and Melbourne.
In 2022, I began experiencing trigeminal neuralgia caused by a brain tumour, resulting in five brain operations. During this period, I developed Climbing Pixels and deepened the techniques I use to uncover climbing within fine art.
I am currently undertaking a PhD at The University of Sydney on this topic.
I climb with head protection because I have a pump in my skull and would rather not smash it.
